      Od brezna 2013 je k dispozici text noveho obcanskeho zakoniku. Cela rada prispevku na Czechlistu se zabyva terminologii, kterou my, cesky hovorici mluvci, casto datujeme do 19. stoleti. V kvetnu 2013: vejminek. Nyni najata krava.

      Vitezove sametove revoluce vraceji terminologii zpatky, nejprve do pravni cestiny. Otevrel jsem tema na ProZ.com:

      <http://www.proz.com/forum/czech/244781-ob%C4%8Dansk%C3%BD_z%C3%A1kon%C3%ADk_od_112014.html>

      do textu jsem dal seznam ceskych slov, ktera Google neprelozil do anglictiny (tak dlouhy seznam se mi doposud nikdy nepodarilo vyrobit);

      dale uvadim priklady toho, ze Google preklada do dalsich jakyku prostrednictvim anglictiny; jako priklad jsem uvedl priklad do polstiny: nese = medvedi aj.

      Naopak Google prelozil z cestiny do anglictiny slova, ktera jsem neznal ani cesky, ani anglicky.

      Pripravim v OmegaT projekt k prekladu obcanskeho zakoniku do anglictiny a polstiny.

        Vyzvali mě ke spolupráci na lokalizaci SW, nabízejí 4,5 eurocentu za slovo

        Ke všemu spolupráce vyžaduje předplatit CAT Translation Workspace v ceně 14
        dolarů za 5 tisíc slov za měsíc nebo 35 dolarů za 30 tisíc slov za měsíc
        nebo 49 dolarů za 50 tisíc slov za měsíc.
        Stojí to vůbec za to?

          Honzo,

          kdysi jsem pro ne prekladala prostrednictvim agentury. Platili mizerne, vlastni CAT nastroj poskytli zdarma, vyzadovali umorne vyplnovani formulari pro QA (nic proti, ale bylo to opravdu casove narocne). To je cca pred 6 lety, ted nevim.

          Hezky den,

              Obecne je ale tahle firma obludny moloch se spoustou byrokracie a
              zkostnatelosti, navic znama tim, ze tu a tam tlaci sve prekladatele k
              plosnemu snizeni cen (odehralo se tusim pred dvema lety). Takze aktualne
              nabizene sazby nelze brat za zarucene. Na to, zda se ti pri aktualni
              vysi vyplati, si ale, Honzo, musis odpovedet sam.

                  They must have a different policy for the Czech Republic than for the US. For US-based translators, they charge $5 a month to use Translation Workspace. The American translator has to pay for the privilege of doing Lionbridge's work on its own CAT tool, and a subscription doesn't guarantee you any work. They get really aggressive in pushing this arrangement, even going so far as to have guys call me from India to induce me to start paying.

                      I also refuse.

                      I was astounded at the rates people on the list say the company pays them, because that apparently varies a lot from country to country in my experience.

                      Also, the project managers don't always give you enough information to get paid. I was futilely invoicing for months and never getting paid. Finally, over a year later, someone detected that I wasn't paid and explained to me that they had their own online invoicing portal. When I'd been sending invoices, they were thrown into the abyss and no one told me that wasn't the way they do things. Then there were a lot of problems setting that up.

They get really aggressive in pushing this arrangement, even going so far as to have guys call me from India to induce me to start paying.

                        You have got to play hardball with them and they are usually compliant, and the rates aren't bad but it is hard work getting those rates out of them. I sorted out the on-line invoicing thing a while back, but the link isn't easy to find.
                        The thing that most gets me is that they usually send several pages of 'instructions' in miniscule font with each e-mail, and they also have instruction manuals/style guides with hundreds of pages and as soon as you stray from the course they will immediately quote the page and clause number of the offence and demand an explanation of why you hadn't followed the instructions.
                        I'm mostly familiar with it now and it is all straightforward stuff, but at first it was pretty irksome. I also refuse to do their proofreading (LQA) - it really is the most byzantine procedure.
