Historici a kunshistorici to často dělají.

(most likely translated from German, given the word order)

"Snaha, aby se na krest'anskou viru nove obraceni prosti lide naucili
      pozadovanym modlitbam latinsky..."
is not decent Czech in the first place

I reckon this kind of length is quite tolerable actually, at least in
British English. Just sounds more formal than your version IMHO. But thanks
      for the feedback.

      Other opinions appreciated.

Ah yes, the long adjectival phrases. I tell novices: whenever you are
completely stumped over a complex, awkward-looking passage the first
question you should always ask yourself is: "is this a long adjectival
      phrase?" :-)

      Another one from my collection.

Snaha, aby se na krest'anskou viru nove obraceni prosti lide naucili
pozadovanym modlitbam latinsky, nevedla k cíli, protoze ti vesmes nebyli
schopni si tyto texty ani zapamatovat, natoz pak pochopit jejich smysl.

The effort to make the common people, who had just recently converted to
Christianity, learn the required prayers in Latin did not bear fruit,
because they were generally unable to remember these texts, never mind
      understand their meaning.

Possibly debatable whether or not "who" introduces a non-defining relative
clause with commas, but there you go.
