around, baby girls do not wear earrings nowadays.

However this was not the point of my question. It was curious on what
experience Jamie is making this assumption; whether Jamie had some earlier
experience with Czech children than the one which he had 15 or 17 years ago.

I would expect not to stick to such relatively old experience because the
world is changing much more rapidly than it used to do in times of our
grandmothers or even mothers. And it was really interesting to see that even
        quite intelligent people do so.

It's still true for the most part, Sarka, in case you haven't noticed. My
daughter didn't get her ears pierced until she was 7, and for the first year
of her life was constantly told what a cute little boy she was, even when
she was wearing pink flowered outfits. Things don't change THAT much in just
a few years...and probably won't for some time yet. They even do it in some
areas of the US with heavily hispanic populations too, FWIW.

feel such need to comment even my offlist behaviour about which you cannot
          have any idea at all.
I would say that question was quite common and decent and I cannot see any
reason why it should be responded in quite vulgar way. There is a proverb in
Bohemia "Na hrub pytel hrub zplata" but I have neither desire nor urge to
          degrade myself to your level.

            Jirka
