Re: [Czechlist] Re: FW: jsem ¹vihlá
- Not very interesting for our Czech members - sorry... but by way of insults "Swivvel on that camelbreath" from Rodney during a chase scene in the 3-wheeler was one I always remember - cannot remember the exact episode though but I think out on his first date with Cassandra...

I think one of Delboy's few redeeming features is the inventiveness and resourcefulness of his insults. But let us not get into the authenticity of his language here, even if I did live just down the road from Peckham for quite some time. :-)
BTW here are the first six seasons of Only Fools and Horses online:
Bonus points for pointing me in the direction of any episodes with particularly amusing insults.
>The thing I was getting at though was that when used for a girl, "silly tart" carries pretty much the same weight as "silly cow" -
Like twenty hundredweight* each. :-))
BTW I once noted that some time around decimalization (1971) everybody in my class stopped saying "bird" as in "bring a bottle and a bird" (cringe) and started saying "chick" (cringe, cringe).
* At primary school every morning we all had to chant:
Sixteen ounces - one pound,
Fourteen pounds - one stone,
Two stone or twenty eight pounds - one quarter,
Four quarters - one hundredweight,
Twenty hundredweight - one ton,
A hundred and twelve pounds - one hundredweight,
Two thousand two hundred and forty pounds - one ton.
Never did me any harm (twitch).
