      Trouble is, you can't really call HTML tags "pøíkazy" (commands) as
      they do not *command* the browser to perform any actions. They just
      *mark up* the text, i.e. they determine how the text they contain
      should look like. Commands (statements) do appear in web page code,
      but only in scripts (which are, incidentally, inserted inside the
      <SCRIPT> tag).

      Also, when you make the move from HTML to XML, "pøíkaz" can't stand
      the test at all. In XML, tags, which are based on the same priciple
      as in HTML, don't invoke actions at all. They simiply delimit
      elements of data, ie. they *mark* where each segment of data starts
      and ends. Which is why "znaèka" is very much an appropriate
      translation, both in HTML and XML. Admittedly, "tag" may well be
      widely used but in a formalised text, I would be very reluctant to
      use it since it still has a slangy undertone to it.
