      RENEWABLE ENERGY
      IN CUBA TODAY
      a first-hand Report
      by Rachel Bruhnke

      Sunday August 5, 2001 2 PM

(see below for location and directions info)

Just back from her sixth visit to Cuba in the past 18 months,
      she
is a Humboldt State University graduate student in International
Development Technologies. Bruhnke has just finished a Master's
Thesis on "Renewable Energies in Cuba" and will report on
Cuba's use of solar and other renewable energy sources.

Bruhnke was also a participant in the recent Pastors for Peace
Friendshipment Caravan which brought humanitarian aid to Cuba,
as well as the "Reverse Challenge" which took foreign aid FROM
Cuba to the United States, including solar panels and Biorat, the
Cuban rodenticide which has rendered Havana a virtually rat-free
city. Biorat is currently in use in fifteen countries with positive
      results.

The Reverse Challenge also brought to the US Cuban-made
solar energy accumulation panels, which Bruhnke will present
      for your interest.
