Pastors for Peace Cuba Caravan makes Thursday stop in Sioux Falls
The South Dakota Peace and Justice Center will host the Pastors for Peace Cuba Caravan on Thursday in Sioux Falls.
This year's event starts with a potluck at 6 p.m. at Spirit of Peace United Church of Christ, 73rd Street and Cliff Avenue. The program begins at 6:30 p.m.
Participants should bring their own utensils, plates and a dish to share.
Pastors for Peace is an ecumenical agency whose mission is to help forward the struggles of oppressed people for justice and self-determination.
On Thursday, people can meet the travelers and hear updates on the relationship between the U.S. and Cuba. The event is free and open to the public.
In July, the caravan will travel in school buses, trucks and cars along 12 different routes, visiting 130 U.S. and Canadian cities. At every stop, participants will educate people about the economic blockade while collecting construction supplies and tools, medical supplies and equipment, educational and cultural supplies, to be donated to people in Cuba.

Anyone can travel with the caravan. People also can make arrangements to travel to Cuba with the caravan next year. This year it will reach the border in McAllen, Texas, on July 17.
