South Journal, Havana--The Cuban Supreme Court opened an appeal hearing for Salvadorian citizen Ernesto Cruz Leon who was condemned to death for charges of continuous terrorism, cubadebate reported.

The Salvadorian citizen was the author of bomb attempts against Havana tourist centers in 1997 and as it was proven in a trial two years after that, he was sent to Cuba with such terrorist objectives by the Cuban American National Foundation (FNCA) and Luis Posada Carriles, who led the terrorist network organized and financed in the United States to destroy the Cuban Revolution.

The terrorist acts undertaken by Cruz Leon at the orders of Posada Carriles caused the death of Italian tourist Fabio di Celmo and much damage to hotels and tourist facilities in Havana.

During the trial against the Salvadorian citizen, he revealed that his countryman Francisco Chavez Abarca tapped him while he was working at the “Geo Rent a Car” car rentals agency in El Salvador; Chavez Abarca convinced him to carry out terrorist acts abroad after telling him that he himself had done that kind of a job.

Salvadorian Chavez Abarca was arrested while trying to enter Venezuela and he was extradited to Cuba last July.
