          Right. I've never seen
          a red-jeweled CC front
          emblem until now. I'd
          guess it's an original
          maker's mistake where
          some rookie assembler
          popped in the wrong
          jewel.

          There actually are
          several types
          of "cross" emblems; my
          CC trunk emblem has
          mounting pins with
          palnuts, not the far-
          more-common chrome
          screws.

          The "cross" emblem of
          course
          represents "Crosley",
          which in turn is Old
          English meaning "the
          cross by the meadow" -
          a roadside shrine. The
          Crosley family motto
          translates from Latin
          into "In the cross I
          have confidence".

          Crosley isn't the only
          car having a religious
          connotation; I can
          think of Templar,
          Crusader, Santa Fe
          ("Holy Faith"), and
          Chrysler St. Regis.

          (On the other hand, we
          had the Studebaker
          Dictator!)

          And there was one
          American make (I forget
          which) that included a
          St. Christopher medal
          as standard equipment.
          Think that'd go over
          today?
