      I have a '42 sedan
      originally from
      Chicago, and two spare
      engines I found nearby
      over the past fifteen
      years.

      Al Calvin is re-doing
      the engine over the
      winter, and he found a
      huge chunk of carbon in
      Cylinder #1 (it's not
      because I was babying
      the engine) along with
      a really toasted
      exhaust valve, also in
      #1. The engine always
      started and ran well,
      but I brought the
      engine to Al when it
      developed a knock -
      ironically, right as I
      was driving past the
      Waukesha Engine plant
      the day we were
      celebrating the
      Waukesha Engine
      Centennial in mid-
      August.

      I called Ralph Westman,
      (who has the 2-cylinder
      parts stock) yesterday
      and I'll be visiting
      his shop this week. His
      address is 692 McHenry
      Avenue in Woodstock,
      Illinois. Anybody need
      anything?
