The LeMay-America Car Museum, America's largest car museum, is staging its grand opening on Saturday, June 2, 2012 and includes a 1939 Crosley. The 165,000-square-foot, $65 million museum should draw an estimated 425,000 visitors a year.
Inside is the Harold and Nancy LeMay's enormous collection, the world's largest privately-owned automobile collection with a theater, banquet hall, meeting space, cafe, slot-car play area and more.
Getting the museum to open was been a decade-long challenge; raising money during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression wasn't easy. The City of Tacoma provided $17 million in property and service.
