May 26, 1952: Crosley evades police, for a while.
- Undersized Car Has Advantages
DETROIT, May 26 (UP) There are limes when it's convenient to drive a small car - like when you're trying to give police the slip.
A tiny Crosley sped to temporary freedom yesterday by scooting
through an alley too narrow [or a police cruiser to pass.
Officers William Slosher and James Thomas gave chase. Then they saw the Crosley make an illegal turn off a downtown street.
But when the chase entered the alley, the cruiser was stymied.
The officers came to a helpless stop as the smaller car slithered
through an opening between a parked car and a fence.
It wasn't until some time later that the frustrated policemen arrested Emil Olszewski, 22, when the Crosley was found parked in front of his home. He admitted the car belonged to him.
