The Krasl Concours is still two weeks off; it's on Aug. 13. Each year at the Krasl Concours, the selection committee picks a number of vehicles to create a special class. Once the class is determined, the committee finds the appropriate cars to represent the class.

      This year's class: 10 micro/mini vehicles.

Mike Eliasohn of St. Joseph and Chuck Hassel of South Carolina are micro/minicar fans, so they were asked to help the committee find a nice variety of tiny cars.

Besides familiar names like Citicar, Crosley, King Midget and the Fiat 500, other little jewels such as the 1955 Messerschmitt KR200 Kabinenroller, 1960 Goggomobil TS 400 Coupe, 1965 Peel Trident 1-door and 1968 Velorex 16/350.
      For Fiat 500 fans, a special treat, a 1948 Fiat 500 B Topolino convertible coupe, and a 1968 Cinquecento - Italian for 500 - 2-door in a fabulous burgundy and silver two-tone paint job.

Burt Richmond and Diane Fitzgerald made arrangements with Bettenhausen Fiat Studio of Tinley Park, Ill., to have a brand new 2012 Fiat 500 on hand so the old 500 and the new can be compared, side-by-side.

This year there'll be a special class of woody wagons. Four owners will bring their restored utility vehicles.

There will be a number of unusual vehicles displayed up on the patio directly in front of the Krasl Art Center. These cars may have appeal but don't qualify to be in the show because they aren't 35 years old and they may be customized.

The Krasl Concours Welcoming Reception, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 12 with narrator Ed Lucas, "The Voice of the Krasl Concours" and with featured designer Virgil Exner Jr.

A buffet dinner by chef Tim Sizer of Timothy's Restaurant of Union Pier.

The Gladiator/GarageWorks open beer and wine bar with piano music in the Krasl galleries.
      Krasl Art Center: 983-0271.

The Benton Harbor Main Street Cruise is Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and a car meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m Saturday on Territorial Road in Benton Harbor's Arts District.

      Peggy Alsup: 556-2544.
