The Sauk Prairie (WI) Area Historical Society has a photo of Mr. Leroy Gore, the editor of the Sauk Prairie STAR back in the early to mid-1950s, with the newspaper's 1948 CC station wagon.

Leroy started the now-famous "Joe Must Go Club" in Sauk City to recall Wisconsin Senator Joe McCarthy. His grassroots effort grew into a nationwide movement and was documented by LIFE, TIME and Newsweek magazines among others.

The photo is in our CCOC "Vintage Crosley Photographs" album.

(Note the optional hood ornament, the bullet-nose, and the taped-over vent doors to keep out that cold Wisconsin winter air.)
