- Cooper Man Still In Hospital After Auto Collision Thursday
COOPER, Texas (Special). Peyton Smith, who suffered severe fracture
of the right jaw and fracture of the right collarbone, in an automobile accident Thursday about 1:30 a. m., was resting fairly well
Saturday at Janes Hospital.
No arrest had been made Saturday, officers said, the sheriffs
office continuing investigation of the case.
Smith, employed by a hardware firm here, had spent the evening at Delta Funeral Home, relieving the undertaker who was out of town, and was returning in his car to his home two miles North on the new Cooper-Paris highway.
At a point near his home, his car, a small Crosley, collided head-on
with a Ford V-8 coupe, driven by Joe Landers of Sulphur Springs,
accompanied by R. J. Cronon of Ennis and Thomas Carnes of Sulphur
