      <<<<<<<<<<<<<YOU WROTE
      Lou,
Thanks for the location of the serial number plate, it took me a while to figure out where you ment, then there it was. My plate is atached with tiny brass rivets but it was in the location you specified. Now I have a serial number but don't know how to read it, the number is 390-31736 , what year would that make it ?
      Thanks
      Paul Smith

I hope you don't mind me rather than Lou answering.
You have a 1941. The model is known as a CA.

I found this an interesting site although the prices given are outdated by 50% or more. It claims that during the 1939-42 production years 5700 cars were sold by Crosley. I think its fair to extrapolate that Pauls car may beand likly is the 1736th car made in 1941. I personally was surprised at the the production total and suspect that less than 10% and possibly as little as 5% still exist.
I wonder it there would be interest here to have a pre war registry to year, model number and style. It would be the beginning of a National and International effort to document these very rare automobiles.
I would defer to Lou on setting it up on the site but I suspect he would endorse the effort. The idea of a registry is to simply document cars for the common knowledge base. No personal information is involved and thus no threat exists to the owner nor to the owner's or car's location. It might be nice to list a state upon registry but that could only be updated by a subsequent owner who moves the car out of state. Still once registered the listing serves to document a car and its condition on a particular date.

I encourage input to the idea and perhaps it could be expanded to the post war years as well. What say you?
