      Notes: James E. DeLong was born in Indiana and was a self-taught engineer who never graduated from Purdue for lack of money but rose to the presidency of Waukesha Engine (1936-1960). He was directly involved in the design and production of the air-cooled Crosley Cub Twin 150 engine (1939-1952). He founded the James E. DeLong Charitable Foundation, which survives to this day.

        Notes: Powel Crosley III, the son of Powel Crosley Jr. and Gwendolyn Bakewell Crosley, dies of a sudden heart attack at his Miami home. He had been the general manager for the Crosley Marine Research Laboratory in suburban Coral Gables, Florida. He is survived by his widow and three sons, all of Miami.
