      ==========================

      While continuing to sell
      auto accessories by mail,
      Powel Crosley, Jr. began
      investigating retail
      channels.
      Success in placing his
      products directly with
      auto supply stores in
      Cincinnati and
      Indianapolis encouraged
him to go for the big-
      time and pitch Insyde
      Tyres to Sears.
      Buyers for the Chicago
      mail-order giant were
      suitably impressed, and
      immediately ordered
      thousands of Insyde
      Tyres.
      The product appeared in
      the Sears catalog
      as "Inner Casings" for
      several years, until the
      advent of the cord tire
      made reliners obsolete.

      invention debuts.
