      Summary
Vehicle Description Untitled Document ;We have one of the largest collections of quality collector cars in the United States. For 15 years, we have specialized in finding the most unique vehicles in the world.;;See our page above to view our collection of over 100 of the world's best collector cars. 1952 Crosley Skorpion One of the rarest and certainly one of the prettiest microcars, the Crosley Skorpion was built by John Wills and was designed by Ralph Roberts who was a well known automotive designer with LeBaron in the 1930's. Wills & Roberts met in late '42. Wills was just out of the Army Air Corps, and wanted to start a war production company in the new field of plastics. He met Roberts at a show he put together in Pasadena to extol the virtues of this new medium. While the show was a flop, the two decided that day to go into business. Roberts had been very interested in making a plastic car, and although they were busy with government contracts. After the war it was time to focus on building the car project that Roberts had been dreaming about. As Wills & Roberts employed a lot of veterans, they listened to their wants. they were told by the GIs that they wanted " a little house with a little family, a little car, and maybe a little trailer". They decided to base their car on the Crosley chassis, as it was small , reliable, and affordable. After an attempt at a rear engine car called the Wasp, powered by surplus Indian motorcycle engines, they decided to go with the standard Crosley chassis with Robert's pretty sports car design. The Skorpion was introduced to great interest and was even featured on the cover of Motor Trend in April '52. They built some cars in house, and sold approximately 50 kit bodies. It is believed that fewer than thirty were ever assembled, and very few survive today. The car on offer is a very nice fully restored example. Beautifully finished in red with red and white interior, this is likely the best Skorpion on the planet. The engine was recently rebuilt, and features ultra rare Braje finned intake manifold and four port header. A maker of high performance parts for Crosleys and Austins, Braje vintage speed equipment is impossible to find today. The car also comes with a lot of correspondence between the previous owner and John Wills, who only passed away recently. This is a fabulous car, and not only would this be the hit of any car show, it the perfect addition to any eclectic automobile collection. Auction Terms Bid with confidence!
