3957Tom McCahill in October 1949 (Mechanix Illustrated).
- May 3, 2014
Tom McCahill reviewed cars for Mechanix Illustrated with a wry humorous style, and had many fans. This 6'2" guy weighed in at 250 pounds, and in the October 1949 issue, McCahill tested the newly-introduced $849.00 Crosley Hotshot, Model VC. Tom McCahill called it a poor man’s M.G. and said it was "a tin tub with a fine engine" after roadtesting it on parkways around New York City at over 72 miles per hour. (Tom McCahill died in 1975 at 73.)
