      One Ring Celebration
      January 14, 15 & 16, 2005
      Pasadena Center
      California
The One Ring Celebration will offer an unprecedented quantity of Lord
of the Rings Costuming Programs. This is, without question, the most
focused study of Lord of the Rings costumes ever. You could literally
spend the entire duration of this convention just attending costuming
panels, demos, and the masquerade. Programs will be geared from the
beginner to the expert, with close-up demonstrations of specific
techniques and broad overviews of the various looks. There will be
specialized panels about armor and prosthetics, and even some
workshops for children. Here is the menu of panels:

Movie Magic de-Mystified: Doing the Research: Moderated by Cat
      Devereaux

Rawhide to Gossamer: Fabrics & Materials: Moderated by Cat Devereaux

The Middle Earth Tailor: Cut and Fit: Moderated by Cat Devereaux

A Delicate Balance: Elves & Humans: Moderated by Cat Devereaux

Taking That First Stitch: Getting Started: Moderated by Judy Grivich

From Helm to Tasset: LOTR Armor Overview: Moderated by Judy Grivich

The Armory Expert: Professional Techniques for Arms and Armor:
      Moderated by Judy Grivich

Patterns of Defense: Making Armor Templates: Moderated by Julia McGee

Of Cardboard and Kings: Simple Techniques in Arms & Armor: Moderated
      by Julia McGee

Ugly is Only Skin Deep: Prosthetics & Hairpieces: Moderated by Ed
      Martinez

Some Things Wicked: Villains and Evil Characters: Moderated by Ed
      Martinez

Half-Pint Halflings: Costuming your Kids: Moderated by Laura Bradway

Humans and Hobbits and Elves, Oh My!: Dressing Middle-Earth:
      Moderated by Jules Kelly

The Shape of the Shire: Costuming Hobbits: Moderated by Mindy Dupler-
      Singer

If that weren't enough, we will also offer just as many close-up
demonstrations of specific costuming techniques such as weaving chain
mail, fabric painting, leather working and sculpting Hobbit ears.
Additionally, there will be a display of fan-made costumes that will
be changed out on a daily basis.

I hope you will all consider these opportunities and think of this
Convention as educational as well as a fan event. Guest speakers
include Elijah Wood, Royd Tolkien, Billy Boyd, Sean Astin and many
      more. Info here http://www.oneringcelebration.com
There's a Q&A group for attendees at Yahoo OrcInCa
