      actually excellent for normal use of a computer
      system since an "isolated ground" is good. The
      ground itself will not protect against surges on
      the line that can be caused by lightning strikes
      distant from you but close to the power
      lines--that's what surge protectors are for. And
      anti-lightning stuff for nearby strikes is really
      another matter due to the tremendous voltage in
      lightning.
