I have to go away again for about a week, and do not care to pay for a taxi to the airport from Grecia. Is there parking near the airport that is reasonably priced? It seems a while back someone mentioned a place in Alajuela.

Any information on this subject will be appreciated.

We have used this service from Palmares a couple of times with no problems, in our case door to door. Ed In Palmares

In response to this question edmeca2 gave an excellent suggestion of contacting INS if my car was insured by them. He suggested that INS might provide taxi service to and from the airport.

I followed up on this suggestion this afternoon by going to the INS agent I use here in Grecia. In fact, there is a provision in the insurance policy that allows up to five trips to the airport per year. But there is one catch, a car over six years old is considered and antique for insurance purposes, and does not qualify for this coverage. I drive a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker, and the policy continues to have taxi service in case of mechanical failure or accident; but no service to and from the airport.

Again, I wish to thank Ed for making this suggestion. Otherwise I would not have gone to the INS office and inquired.

I also inquired last Sunday at the two hotels near the casino and airport, and the new hotel next to Walmart in Alajuela. All have what is called a ""park and fly" program, where one can park their car for up to eight days. The catch is that one has to rent a room for at least one night, and the room rates start at $117, plus tax. However, this might be a good option for some, living further away from the airport than Grecia.

Paul in Perez suggested that I take a bus from Grecia which would drop me off very close to the airport, on the way to San Jose. Again, that was an excellent suggestion, except I must be at the airport at 4 AM on Sunday. I do not think busses run that early.

It is fairly easy to change your designated email on CRL or other Yahoo
Groups -- go to the group, then membership, then my membership -- use
gmail or whatever else grabs your fancy.

Yahoo Groups is, IMO, a good mailing list program. I do not have a
dirty-word vocabulary extensive enough to adequately describe my opinion
              of Yahoo email.

              Just my opinion.
