Not distinctive . . . Basically they "stank" . . . perhaps the frenchy mosquitoes found them offensive? Better than their normal garlic?
Just FYI to bring the subject back to "creature avoidance in CR" . . . update on a previous post on bats bombing a painted wall: hanging a bunch of garlic in an area preferred by the bats for night time bombing missions has cleared the area.
