I have a 9 hp Nissan on ours with remote throttle/gear controls. Motor is locked down and doesn't turn so no need to mess with ob tiller. Steer with boat

It holds oil and the transducer for the depth finder. Do you have a depth finder? If you do it may have been changed to a through hull Sent from my iPhone

What is inside the tube? Did you unscrew the cap and look in? If a transducer was mounted there will either be a thru-hull fitting or you will see a patch
