EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: COMPETITION LAW & POLICY IN VIETNAM

The CUTS Centre for Competition, Investment & Economic Regulation (CUTS C-CIER) is currently implementing a two-year project entitled “Advocacy and Capacity Building on Competition Policy and Law” (codenamed 7Up2 Project) in an endeavour to accelerate the process towards a functional competition policy and law for selected countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam in Southeast Asia and Bangladesh, Nepal and India in South Asia), and advance an enabling environment for the law and policy to be better enforced. The project is supported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, Switzerland (SECO), the Swiss Competition Commission (COMCO) and the Department for International Development (DFID), UK. More about CUTS and this project on our website:

Within the framework of the said project, CUTS is supporting the Vietnam Competition Administration Department (VCAD) to organise a one and a half day seminar on the draft Implementation Regulations for the Vietnam Competition Law 2004 on the 25th and 26th of April 2005 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The seminar will be an interactive discussion between the VCAD and widespread stakeholders in the country on the said Regulations, with a view to finalising the Regulations with a highest degree of appropriateness and national ownership. It will also serve as a forum for the VCAD to hear from international experts of relevant experiences on Do and Don't about the Regulations (in their own countries' context as well as in Vietnam's context).

Venue: Kimdo Hotel, 133 Nguyen Hue Ave., District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

For more information on the event, please contact Ms. Alice Pham, Project Coordinator at 7up2@... or c-cier@..., Mob: +91 9829 285 926.
