      Comet Observations 13th & 14th February 2013

      C/2012 F6 Lemmon
      2013 Feb 13.52 UT; m1=5.5; Dia= 18’; DC= 4/5; 7x50B [Chris Wyatt, Walcha, NSW, Australia]
Coma elongated to SSE, tail to SSE 27’ in length. Globular cluster 47 Tucana and the comet were within the same field of view on the 7x50’s, opposite each other but just inside the edges of FOV. Visible with naked eye as a small hazy patch of light.
Comparison stars checked using Tycho-2 data in Guide 9.0; Method= M; Cat= TK

Notes: I observed a tail of 1.8 degrees in length using 11x70 B’s on the morning of the 14th February.

      C/2011 L4 PANSTARRS
      2013 Feb 13.45 UT; m1=5.3; Dia= 8’; DC= 7/8; 7x50B [Chris Wyatt, Walcha, NSW, Australia]
Bright central condensation, tail to WSW and broadly fans out with Northern edge of tail longer than the opposite side. Visible with naked eye but clouds and thin haze prevented making estimates.
