Porter Batiste Stoltz, or PBS, is three-fourths of the New Orleans legends the Funky Meters. Bassist George Porter is the only original Meter, but Russell Batiste and Brian Stoltz are two of the baddest musicians to ever emerge from the Big Easy. It's not like the Funky Meters without an organ: No, this power trio combines raucous originals and inspired covers in a very aggressive, upbeat funk style. Like Hendrix's Band of Gypsys, but soaked in a pot of gumbo.
When Bonerama struts onstage with its four-trombone frontline, you can guess it's not quite like any rock 'n' roll band you've seen. When they tear into some vintage New Orleans funk, there's no questioning from which city these guys hail. And when those 'bones start ripping into Hendrix and Led Zeppelin licks, all stylistic bets are off.
Ivan Neville who has played and written for bands like: The Rolling Stones, Gov't Mule, Spin Doctors
"Dumpstaphunk is the best funk band from New Orleans right now."
