Radner Houdini collection -and- eventually were sold during his Las Vegas Houdini auction, back in October 2004.The four posters sold for: $121,500.00Prior to this, in 1993, the Houdini Historical Center reproduced the four posters.Mr. Radner attended the SAM national magic convention, held in New Orleans July 1993, and brought a few of the posters to sell.This set of four, being offered here, was purchased directly from Mr. Radner and he was kind enough to personally sign/date each.For those of you who might not know, when Houdini passed away, his brother Hardeen received almost all his collection. Mr. Radner was Hardeen's protégé and received the collection when Hardeen passed away. Mr. Radner passed away on June 26th, 2011.

A limited edition (and numbered) plate produced in 1999 by the Bradford Exchange. Measuring 7" across, "Magician Mickey" is a combination of hand painted cold cast resin and fine hard fired porcelain.Bringing together the intricacy of sculpture, the vividness of hard-fired porcelain and the eternal charisma of Mickey Mouse, this charming collector's plate honors the 70th anniversary (1928 -1998) of one of the most popular animated stars of all time. Against a background inspired by animators' model sheets stands a wonderfully dimensional, hand-painted figure of Mickey Mouse.As can be seen from the photo below, Mickey, in full tux, has a fan of cards streaming from his waist high held left hand, to his head high held right hand. This photo was produced and signed, 21 years ago, in 1993.Houdini and niece, Marie Hinson Blood, taken on set of one of Uncle Harry's silent movies.HAND SIGNED in 1993 by Marie BloodThe delightful Marie Blood, niece of Harry Houdini, and the only relative (aside from Bess) to have appeared on stage with, and to have lived in the home of Houdini, passed away on November 2, 2004.Marie wrote a portion of Pulitzer-Prize winning author Kenneth Silverman's biography on Houdini. She lectured to the national conventions of The International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians.Along with David Copperfield, Marie introduced the popular HOUDINI POSTAGE STAMP, in New York, on the date the stamp was released to the public. N.Y."Poster has been professionally matted and placed in a black wood frame. TruVue glass has been used, which provides for 98% of UV protection.I've scanned three different sections. Please click the ThumbNail photos, to bring up the larger photo.The scanned images are brighter than the actual poster itself. The first two photos, below, are truer to the actual color. Some reflection can be seen in the first photo, due to the glass.Poster has a stain, at the top, which is actually on the backside and has bled through. I could of had this hidden, with the matts, but believe a Houdini poster should be displayed in its entirety. If you don't agree with this thinking, you could have the poster reMatted to hide the stain.Poster was folded in the middle, at sometime over its lifetime.Poster mounted onto Linen for protection and preservation.With most all other Houdini posters bringing Hugh Sums, these days, this may be the only under valued one at this time.Overall size of framed piece is approx. 19 1/2"x25 1/2" - $5,000.00=====4153-2695) HOUDINI...and Beyond. Inside article:"THE MAGICIAN and the MOVIES" by Erik Barnouw.Before Mr. Barnouw published his 128 page, hardbound book by almost the same name ("The Magician and the Cinema"), he wrote a smaller version, of the topic, for the American Film Magazine.Like the book, this Lead-in article discusses the extensive role Magicians played in the evolution of cinema. Magicians created the “trick film”, which laid the foundation for the special effects of modern cinema.This article shows what Magicians were doing with moving images, magic lanterns, etc. long before the motion pictures.As a nice bonus, the magazine has a Great Cover shot of Houdini’s Rare Poster from his 15-part Silent Movie Serial THE MASTER MYSTERY. - $20.00=====4155-3268) THEATRE MAGAZINE for March 1923. This is a Large Format magazine (measuring 9 3/4"x12 3/4").Under the heading of "Special Articles" is one about Houdini:"The Mystery Man of the Stage"

Cook.As the magazine states:"Interesting Close-up of a Famous Magician Who Indulges Other Tastes Than Feats of Strength".Article touches on:(a) 1920 Webster’s Dictionary addition with exact listing described. (b) Riveted into a large, hot water boiler in 1907 by the Marine Boiler Works of Toledo, Ohio. (c) The rest of page on Houdini, the book collector. citing examples of: (1) David Garrick’s Original Diary. (2) 1584 edition of Scott’s "The Discouverie of Witchcraft". (3) "Annus Mirabilis" (1666) by Dryden. (4) "Life of Edmund Kean" by Hawkins. (4) "The Memories of the Life of Theophilus Keene" by Richard Savage.In addition to the article, there’s a nice photo of Houdini which isn’t published very often.This magazine looks as though it were published yesterday. This is a 14”x36” poster (called a Panel or Insert Poster).The Great Wooley (Jerry Lewis) is a magician who is entertaining GIs in Japan. Upon their arrival he causes a series of unfortunate mishaps for the headliner, actress Lola Livingston (Marie McDonald), including knocking her down a flight of stairs and rolling her up in the red carpet. An orphan, Mitsuo Watanabe (Robert Hirano) witnesses the spectacle and laughs for the first time since his parents died. When his aunt Kimi Sikita (Nobu McCarthy) brings the boy to Wooley to thank him, he and the boy become close, which irritates the aunt's boyfriend, a Japanese baseball player, as well as a stewardess (Suzanne Pleshette) who has fallen for Wooley.Wooley continues to perform his act to large audiences in Japan, and not wanting to disappoint the boy by letting him find out that he is an unknown performer in the U.S., he tries to sneak away when it is time for him to return to America. The boy follows him, and Wooley must pretend that he no longer cares for the boy, which makes him cry. However, he still follows him to America by stowing away on the plane. Once in America, they are reunited and Wooley becomes a successful performer in America.Top portion shows Lewis’ name and title of movie. Middle portion shows Lewis, seated, eating with chop sticks. To the left of this is the female star (Sessue Hayakawa). To the right, the boy star. Under this are cast and credits. The bottom portion shows Lewis (in full tux) holding a rabbit. As though he had just pulled it out of the top hat, which is on the table next to him. Scene also shows the female and boy stars, in their assistant costumes.Poster is folded into quarters, as most All Posters of this size come. After folding, the poster becomes almost the size of the Lobby Cards (11x14) and could be shipped off, with the film, to the next movie theatre. The folds are a little washed out in the photos below.Only the 4th of these I've EVER had to offer. Overall condition would be Excellent for this 56 year old poster from 1958.As the photos, below, show - the poster has been professionally Double Matted and placed in a metal Framed.
