Air travel rebounds
Summer air travel is expected to be down only slightly
from pre-9/11 summers--about 7 percent this coming
July compared to July 2001. But commercial traffic at
nine major airports is already heavier than prior to 9/11,
and six more are expected to surpass pre-9/11 levels
by the end of this year.
Airports already surpassing 9/11 levels: Chicago's
Midway and O'Hare, Cincinnati, Florida's Ft. Lauderdale,
New York's La Guardia, Las Vegas, Memphis,
Minneapolis/St. Paul and Salt Lake City.
Airports expected to exceed pre-9/11 levels soon: Atlanta,
Charlotte, Denver, Detroit, Houston and San Diego.
