      The worst of the damage to global warming science was done in the months preceding the 2000 election of G.W. Bush and was done off the record by directors and supervisory meteorologists employed with the National Weather Service (NWS) headed by General Kelly. It took the form of ridicule toward Gore's book on global warming.

      The use of public offices for political influence is illegal. NWS managers got away with it. They influenced the voting enough to let G.W. Bush claim victory in 2000 and take over the White House in January of 2001.
