Hurricanes and global warming ... and the upward trend continues

Emanuel didn't say that hurricanes will increase every year with
      global warming.

In Dec. 2005, Kerry Emanuel of the Massachusetts Institute of
      Technology said:

"My results suggest that future warming may lead to an upward trend in
tropical cyclone destructive potential," ... [07 Dec. 2005 - "The
link between hurricanes and global warming", The Independent]

For comparison, annual temperatures at Park Rapids, Minnesota
fluctuate about an upward trend line (see figure). A year with cooler
temperatures (1996) can happen occasionally but then the upward trend
      continues.

Emanuel didn't say that Atlantic hurricanes will increase every year
with global warming. A year with no hurricanes (2006) can happen
occasionally ... and then the upward trend continues.
