Re: Tropical Atlantic Cooling And African Deforestation Correlate To Drought
This is my introductory post to Climate Archives. You will likely not agree with me very often. Tehre will always be reasons for my views, and am happy to hear counter-arguments.
I am a bankruptcy lawyer in New York City. I did a significant amount of forecasting in High School, and a lot of reading since.
As a lawyer I read the Kyoto treaty. Most of the base years are 1990, but some are as early as 1986. Apparently, they're keyed to each European countries' most prosperous year, to give them a high Kyoto base. The US and Australia, though, are saddled with a recession year, so their Kyoto targets would be yawning.
I'm not saying the Bible is literally true, but isn't there something about "seven years of plenty" and "seven years of famine (drought) there? Weather is cyclical. Creating a big, dumb, mass governmental organization and a socialist redistribution scheme isn't going to anchor weather in some "goldilocks" state of perfection.
Also, what's posted below, and what I'm responding to, appears to assume that the West is deforesting Africa. The likes of Mugabe would appear to be far more culpable
