"Wild Ones, Native Plants and Natural Landscapes" promotes
environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity
through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant
communities. The website for Wild Ones is at: http://www.for-wild.org

The May/June issue of Wild Ones Journal has an article called "Using
Juncos as Canaries". Discussion and tables of monthly and annual
temperature and humidity data are available at two websites:

Air temperatures and dew points for 1998 through 2002 at many airport and
climate stations in the U.S. had their highest of record five year
averages. Temperature records go back to the late 1890s at many climate
stations. Dew point records in electronic form on go back to 1948.

The methodology used for this study of temperature and humidity data is
given in a report called: "Special Report - Air Temperatures & Dew Points
      - Great Lakes States" (April 16, 2003), on this website.

Note on humidity - Air is saturated when the air temperature reaches the
dew point, when relative humidity equals 100 percent. Relative humidity
varies with air temperatures. Dew point is used as a measure for the
humidity of the air in this report. Humidity of the air is important in
acting as a potent greenhouse gas and in acting to increase the rate of
melt for snow and ice. Latent heat released as water vapor from humid
air condenses on snow and ice, increasing the melt rate.

This effort was a personal study (not to represent views/positions of
      employment agency).
