Ride this Sunday, May 6
Meet at The Globe (1934 W. Irving Park Rd. www.theglobepub.com) around 1pm for brunch, bloodies, soccer and socializing. The ride will leave around 3 or 3:30, (scooter time) and end up at the Cobra Lounge (235 N. Ashland Ave.) where you can depart on the BYOB Party Bus at 5:30pm to the Roller Derby bout, or hang out and drink $2 PBRs to your heart's content until The Beat's show. There will be discounted bout tickets available to all participants, and the chance for some comps.
Here are the details I received from Peter, the ChiTown Rollers PR guy:
"I just confirmed, we are co-promoting the English Beat show and should access to some comp tickets. Unfortunately, the Beat may go on just before the buses get back. I'd go ahead and list both and tonight see what people want to do.
The bus and bout tickets are normally $20, I think we were offering scooter rides as discount of $15. Maybe as a special incentive, we'll give the comp tickets to the intrepid souls who try to do both...come to our bout and then catch the show. People could always drive to the bout and then leave after the second period (three periods total). This should get them back to Chicago in time for the Beat's expected 930 start time.
I would also totally understand if people just want to participate in the scooter rally, but decide not to go to the bout. Actually, I am trying to land Dave Wakeling for our pre-party-- maybe get him to play a scooter rally. "
