      1. Web Site Milestone!

We have had our 10,000th visitor to the Chi Rho Press
Web site at http://www.ChiRhoPress.com This is since
we started the site in August 2000. I want to give a
prize to the 10,000th visitor, but it turned out to be
      me!

Every Saturday morning, I go onto the Web site to check
that things are working right and to look at the counter.
Imagine my shock when I saw the counter say 10,000!

It would be unseemly to give myself a prize, so I decided
to simply share this milestone with our faithful readers.
Thanks for helping us reach this big step. Ten thousand
visitors to a specialized Web site like ours is a big
milestone and we are proud to have reached it.

Perhaps you all can help us meet our next 10,000 more
      quickly!

      Come visit us at http://www.ChiRhoPress.com

      2. A New Printing of "My Memory Book"

We are very pleased to announce to the young and the
young-at-heart a third printing of "My Memory Book: A
Journal for Grieving Children, Second Edition" by
      Gretchen Gaines-Lane, LCSW-C. Please visit
      http://www.chirhopress.com/products/socialaction.html#SocialMemory
to read about the book and to order your copy.

Though created for children by a children's grief and
bereavement specialist, many adults are using "My Memory
Book" to create memorials for loved ones who have died.
Like a panel in the AIDS quilt, a copy of "My Memory Book"
can become an important part of the grief process after
losing a beloved friend or relative.

"I love this workbook for children of all ages," says
Patricia Kelly, co-author of "Final Gifts" and a
consultant in the Washington, D.C. area. "This is a
      book to treasure."

The unique genius of this book is that it is wonderful
for anyone to use, regardless of age. "My Memory Book"
provides enough exercises for readers of any age to
return to it again and again to celebrate the life of
one recently lost and of their life together. The book
also includes a special section in the back for readers
      to design their own exercises.

"My Memory Book" is available from Chi Rho Press for
$10.95 each, $8.95 each for six or more copies, plus
shipping and handling. Order it at
      http://www.chirhopress.com/products/socialaction.html#SocialMemory.

      --------------------------------------------------

      3. Featured Book: "The Road to Emmaus"

"The Road to Emmaus: Daily Encounters with the Risen
Christ," is an inclusive devotional edited by Joseph W.
      Houle.

"The Road to Emmaus" is a valuable resource for those who
wish to balance the frenetic pace of modern life with
moments of recollection and spiritual refreshment. There
is a Gospel reading for each day of the year and a
meditation based upon it. Each meditation is a gentle
invitation to become attentive to the presence of the
Sacred in the ordinary circumstances of our lives and to
open our hearts to the risen Christ in quiet reflection.

As an inclusive devotional, "The Road to Emmaus" affirms
      the goodness of all God's children, the young and the old;
the male and the female; the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgendered person; heterosexuals; the single, coupled,
and celibate; and people of all races, physical ability,
and education. Its underlying message is that the Gospel
is good news for all people.

If you seek a deeper walk with the risen Christ, the daily
meditations of "The Road to Emmaus" will speed you on your
      way.

James B. Nelson writes, "Reading the devotions in The Road
to Emmaus made scriptural passages come alive for me, often
in new ways. Further, the writings prodded me to examine my
spirituality more honestly. And, most importantly, they
      freshened my hope."

Contributors to "The Road to Emmaus" include the Rev. Kathy
Baker, the late Rev. Harold J. Burris, Adam DeBaugh, Sarah
Fershee, Sr. Jeannine Gramick, the Rev. Louis Kavar, the
late Joseph Houle, Virginia Miles, Fr. Robert Nugent, Jack
Pantaleo, the Rev. Dusty Pruitt, the Rev. Andy Sidden, and
      the late Rev. Larry Uhrig.

Faithful readers of this list-serve will know that "The
Road to Emmaus" is currently the source of the Chi Rho
Reflection, which is sent out every Sunday.

"The Road to Emmaus" is available at $9.95 each plus
shipping and handling. Six of more copies are $7.50 each.

      http://www.chirhopress.com/products/devotionals.html#EMMAUS.

      5. Sanctoral Cycle

As a regular feature in the Chi Rho Connection, we
are offering up traditional and modern saints and various
holy days and holidays listed in the 2003 Liturgical
Calendar and Lectionary from today until our next
      scheduled electronic newsletter.

      *****

Sunday, June 15. Father's Day (U.S.A., United Kingdom).
Many churches honor and recognize fathers on this day.
Care should be given that fathers of all kinds are
      included equally: foster, adoptive, grandfathers,
partners of men with children, and those who take a
fathering role in a child's life.

Saturday, June 21. First Day of Summer (Northern
Hemisphere). Summer solstice is an important
celebration for Wiccans. Fires are lit to honor the
sun and the bounty of nature.

Saturday, June 21. First Nations Day (Canada).
Held at the Summer solstice, this is the most sacred
day among Indian, Metis, and Inuit peoples. Community
      feasts are held.

Tuesday, June 24. St. Jean Baptiste (Qu├ębec, Canada).

Wednesday, June 25. Sadhu Sundar Singh (1889-1929).
Indian Christian mystic. Sundar Singh came from a
wealthy family in northern India, which followed the
Sikh faith. As a teenager he had a mystical vision
of Christ addressing him in Hindustani. For becoming
a Christian he was turned out into the streets. He
wore the robes of an Indian holy man, wandering across
the country preaching the Gospel. He often taught in
parables, and like Jesus attracted large crowds. He
saw in Jesus a model for bridging the spiritual wisdom
      of the East and West.

Friday, June 27. Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
This day in 1969 marks the 'official' beginning of the
modern movement for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and
transgendered rights. Tired of taking routine abuse
from the police, the patrons of the Stonewall Inn, a
local gay bar in New York City, decided to fight back.
Led largely by drag queens, they started a series of
riots that sparked a powder keg of pent-up anger,
leading to an awakening of pride and self-determination.

Sunday, June 29. Sts. Peter and Paul, Apostles. Peter
and Paul figured as the most significant leaders in the
early "Jesus Movement." Peter was a common fisherman
known for being quite impetuous. Jesus gave him the
nickname of "rock," which by Catholic tradition led to
his becoming the first Pope. He led the early church
in Jerusalem, and eventually ended up in Rome where he
was crucified upside down. Paul, on the other hand,
was not one of Jesus' original followers. A Pharisee
trained in the Law, he helped persecute the first
Christians. After his conversion he was primarily
responsible for spreading the faith to Gentiles across
the Roman Empire. He wrote the first books of the
Christian Scriptures as letters to churches he founded.
He and Peter often did not get along. Ironically, Paul
also ended up in Rome, and was martyred about the same
      time as Peter.

Tuesday, July 1. Canada Day (Canada)

Friday, July 4. Independence Day (U.S.A.). Federal
      holiday.

      6. Adam's Last Word:

Tomorrow I start a new job at my secular work. I got a
promotion! Yeah! Focusing on a specific contract with
the National Cancer Institute, I am the new Project
Administrator, and am pretty excited about it.

A week from Monday is my birthday. <sigh> Gifts are
always welcome! Actually just go on the Web site and
buy a book or a piece of stained glass or something.
That would be a wonderful gift for me, honest! And
hopefully it would be good for you too!

Craig Arnold is traveling in Ireland now for a couple of
weeks, but before he left he showed me his concept painting
for cover art work for the Rev. Dr. Sandy Bochonok's book
of daily devotions, Living as the Beloved: One Day at a
Time. I think you will like the art work, and we will be
posting it on the Web site after Craig's return and when
the three of us have all agreed on it's final form.

You can see Craig's first cover art work on "My Memory Book!"
