Charlotte's Garden and Patchwork Prayers

Patchwork Prayers is a simple idea with powerful results. The warmth of the quilts comes from the prayers tied into each knot on the quilt. As the quilt is constructed and the knots are tied, prayers are said for the ill person. When the family receives the quilt they can tie a knot on the quilt and say a prayer, they can then give it to their ill loved one. As the patient has visitors, their visitors can tie a knot and say a prayer. The patient is then wrapped in love and prayers. I hope that the prayer quilts will offer love, hope, comfort and warmth to the patient and their family.

Thank you for your interest in Charlotte's Garden. Charlotte's Garden was created as a way to honor my mother who was diagnosed with brain cancer on her 80th birthday in October 2005.My mother received a prayer quilt from her church shortly after her diagnosis. I have personally seen the power of her quilt. It brought her love, hope, comfort and strength. She took her quilt everywhere with her, and told everyone she met the story behind a prayer quilt. She had doctors and nurses lined up at her hospital room door so they could tie a knot and say a prayer for her. I would like to be able to turn that around and offer the same hope and comfort to anyone fighting for their life with a terminal disease. My mother passed away from brain cancer on June 8, 2006. I miss her dearly.

The beautiful prayer quilt on our home page was made by Barbara in WI for Laura. Laura is 6 years old and she is fighting Leukemia. She loves flowers, hearts and butterflies. Her quilt will be such a bright and cheery surprise. Thank you Barb for your wonderful gift to Laura.
