Well, we might have to define a time period for "these days". My experience has been different. Earlier this year when the display on my old one quit working, every single Android smart phone that I considered buying had a user...

  • Yeah, I've seen quite a few reports on the web of Droid batteries overheating. Not all Android phones have this problem. I think before the nuisance of switching platforms, I'd consider other options. Not that I have anything against iPhones. I'm still firmly in the Apple ecosystem despite having an Android phone and tablet. It's just that I'm retired and iThings tend to be...

  • I don't know of any free apps for the iPhone, but Geosphere is my preferred caching app on the IOS platform. It's the only thing I miss about IOS after switching to Android. Neither platform is better for geocaching... they will both do the job quite nicely. I'm curious about your wife pushing you get an iPhone. There's not very much difference between the two platforms as far as...

  • Thanks for the info. It's available for free Prime borrowing from the Amazon Kindle store, so it is this month's loan for me. Now, I've read two others and have been rather 'Meh' about them. This one was very good, enough so...

  • Hey gang- I set a trackable coin last year with a stated mission of going to a cache location in a small village in France where I lived for three years. It sat around for a while in the Austin area, finally made it to Yuma (wrong direction, but it's still progress of a sort). Now a cacher is wandering all over California posting logs ( around 30 at last count) at numerous...

  • My question would be: Why would the city put not one, but two officially marked trailheads on private property? Or even better: how could they legally do this? Did they have permission from the owners to do this with the understanding that the owners alone could use them? Big lack of info here. Nevertheless, I would respect the rights of the property owner. • It affects all traffic. Construction of the new concrete path from Balcones Park is going through that area, and there's going to be a lot of digging and moderately heavy equipment moving around those areas. • How do you get Geosphere to do driving directions? I've been all through the program and haven't found it yet. Lack of that feature is one of the main things keeps me on an Android phone. I used the previous version of Geosphere for several years before going to the Android platform. Mike On 18 Aug 2013, at 12:24 , Greg Jewett wrote: Esther -- There is a couple of really good...
