RE: [CentralTexasGeocachers] Re: On a day honoring TOLERANCE :(
NTX takes their FTFs seriously.
Anyways, Groundspeak has the ability to review deleted logs. I am just waiting to see if PR does anything about it. PR can be a little slow, so given a week's time, if no action has been taken, I will send my personal recommendation to Groundspeak for the archival of the cache, bypassing PR.
Toni, I remember caching with you when you were a newbie, all giddy with excitement. Do not let a bunch of backward cachers in NTX prevent you from enjoying the company of the geocachers who love you.On Jan 21, 2013 3:46 PM, "Gary Eckhardt" <garynewsmail@...> wrote:
Oh good grief, all this crap over a FTF? Really? No, I mean *REALLY*?
I’ve a right mind to quit the game now if I’m going to associate with people who would get upset over this. Thankfully, I know better because of the group of folks down here treat everyone like family.
I still would like to see the logs and know who NOT to associate with.
The issue was that Zeppo said all the caches had to be found in 2013 and she didn't abide by zeppos rule of the cache. Lots of people were watching (including myself) and honoring his challenge. Tfbrown swooped in and grabbed the FTF by using caches found in previous years.
Just frustrating when the 50+ people who were watching and playing by zeppos rules for this cache lost out in the FTF because tfbrown went by ground speak rules.
He cleaned out the log because it was getting messy and he didn't want it to be a forum of complaining. I don't think he's trying to sweep it under the rug - just trying to get the cache back on track to be fun and challenging as intended
He also said if it gets archived then oh well
It is just a game

When I go to that listing now, I don’t see any posts at all other than the “Publish Listing” item. Maybe Zeppo cleared them all out? If anyone has a copy of them I’d like to see them and report the whole thing to Groundspeak. Was the issue that people weren’t going to be getting pathtags?
Anyhow, don’t let a bunch of idiots take any joy or comfort from you that Geocaching gives. It’s amazing how upset and vicious people can be when they have the anonymity of a computer and internet. Know that 99% of the Geocachers out there are like the ones that you have come to know and love. The main thing is that you continue doing the activity that you enjoy, and that has helped you so much. Spectrum issues are tough, and you have already started to conquer them. Don’t let this push you back!
I think the reason Prime Reviewer allowed the cache to be published was because of the way zeppo worded it. He does not state in the description that all caches must be found in 2013, he only states that if you want the pathtag they must be found in 2013. Although I thought people would be upset about the new rules I thought they would be aimed at Groundspeak and not at me.
I have gotten threats, including daring me to show up at the Texas Challenge. I won't be going. In fact, I won't be going to any events in the near future. You might see my name on a log here and there because I'm not giving up on a sport I so love, and a sport that has changed my life beyond what any of you can imagine.
Let me tell you a story about the first tb I found. It wanted to go to a cache in La Grange. At that time back in 2010, I had occasionally geocached here and there close to my house. I decided to take that tb to La Grange. I didn't cache along the way, I didn't cache back, and that was the only cache I got in that park. You have no idea what a big deal that was for me. You see, being on the autism spectrum had made me slightly agoraphobic. I grocery shopped at 6am, and did most of the rest of my shopping on Amazon. Heck, I still do those things. God bless Walmart for being open 24 hours.
But then in Janary 2011, MCP had a milestone event and I thought if I worked real hard I could get to 100 and I did. And then I met you guys. Because we all shared this love of geocaching, I finally fit in somewhere. You guys taught me how to use my gps properly and I got one for my car and now I can go anywhere. I still don't drive at night, and there's too much activity going on around me to do too much city caching. It's more than just not liking being in traffic. I can't concentrate when things are moving so fast all around me. But I'm out there. Wanna know why I have so many cemetery caches? Because I mostly cache in the country. I got the three caches I needed in Dallas and headed for the country.
Anyway I digress. I need to take a break and decompress. I don't know if any of you saw the movie Temple Grandin, but I could really use a squeeze machine right now. But I'll be back. It's best if you guys didn't associate with me too much until after the challenge.

This is my last post in this thread for the sake of ending this debacle. Sorry, I've got a lot going on in my life right now so I'm limited on time in which I can respond.
CO started off just stating that the requirements had not been met but then went back and chimed in their own two cents about two times with everyone else. It was not as belittling as what others had been saying, but it was negative and hurtful as well.
The last post anyone made before I posted a need archive was about how there were 52ish people watching the cache and that Toni should really be careful about how she 'is antagonizing NTX and trying to force them to cache her way."
And the only opinion I will offer to this now... good. The best way to move past this in the first way is to do the fair thing, prevent further debate over it, align to what Groundspeak says, and if that means archive the cache, do so.On Jan 22, 2013 7:07 PM, "GrnBeret2B" <grn.beret.2b@...> wrote:
Can someone please point me to yahoogroups functionality, should it exist, that allows me to unsubscribe from a single thread so that I don't have to continue receiving emails that consist of little more than internet arguments (I quit moderating F2P MMO forums for a reason....), but can still receive the emails that contain the quality posts that I know the members of this group are capable of making?TIA!~~Nathaniela.k.a. I hope y'all feel some vindication with your "victory". Apparently Tori's log has been restated too even though she did not complete the challenge. What a sad turn of events. It's sad that a group of cachers made such a big deal out of this one simply because their caches with dates restrictions were not approved. This seems to be the real issue. As far as I am concerned Tori's log is not valid. It wasn't logged with respect to what the cache was intended or approved. From the messages I have received outside of this list there's lots I could say with respect to this, but it would serve no purpose here.Again, congratulations in winning. Apparently its what y'all wanted. Unfortunately it's a loss for the caching community, but I don't think that is, or ever was, a concern.Just my two cents worth.Wade

I dont' know how many of you watch the cache GC432W3 - "2013 Geocacheers To Do List" by zeppo!, but maybe you should go there and read the ugly, mean, nasty, and even threatening posts made by so many.
I am saddened by the whole affair and I can only imagine what tfbrown must be feeling.
I have tried to make some sense out of the whole thing and have tried very hard not to get involved (except one post in her defense) but I just had to vent somewhere.
After much reflection, I have come to a realization that Prime Reviewer allowed this cache to be published as a 2013 finds only cache! That must be why the cachers up there are so upset. They are not aware that down here we were not ALLOWED to do that!
I listed GC4291X - The @#$%& ABC Challenge even before zeppo! did (mine published 12/28/12, his was published 12/31/12) and was explicitly told that this was not allowed by Groundspeak.
Well, I guess this truly means that we are NOT all equal!
Please know that I mean no disrespect to anyone involved with this cache. I represent no opinions other than my own and I speak for no one except myself. Thank you for the opporutnity to speak.
A sad day indeed,
