You cannot get GPX 1.1 from Groundspeak yet. This is an option in the GSAK GPX export, which is what Julie was asking about. Groundspeak currently has options

You cannot get GPX 1.1 from Groundspeak yet. This is an option in the GSAK GPX export, which is what Julie was asking about.

Groundspeak currently has options for GPX 1.0 and GPX 1.0.1. In the future they plan to add GPX 1.1.

All Groundspeak did was to add the attribute fields, which are allowed under GPX 1.0 anyway! (The problem was that some GPS manufacturers, DeLorme comes to mind, didn't parse GPX 1.0 files fully and the addition of attributes broke them.)

Groundspeak have published a draft standard and stated their intent to offer both at some point. 1.1 will allow items such as the Favorite Point count and Premium Member only status to be included in the GPX file. GSAK is just getting ready for that. (Note: those items are now provided through the API anyway, so the urgency has diminished)

It relates to internal memory management problems when swapping one large database for a new one. However, they have improved the situation and it has become much less common in the Oregon and Montana units. I can't remember when I last saw it. Unfortunately the Colorado is long obsolete and the code is frozen prior to the fixes.

What it does have problems with is when I load a file I have to turn it on, watch it get stuck, turn it off, and then turn it on again. Then I have to verify all the files are being read. Even though the file is on the machine it doesn't always read it. When I asked Garmin about it at Geowoodstock they didn't have a clue, but said that problem isn't just with my Colorado. Ugh, Sure like the looks of that pretty green Magellan.
