Re: [CentralTexasGeocachers] Adopt a Highway
- It's a great idea. The Brazos Valley Geocachers have a 2-mile stretch just outside of Birch Creek State Park. We do quarterly CITOs/trash pickups. We've done 3 cleanups so far and are in the process of scheduling the next one at the end of October/beginning of November. It's nice to see your group's name on the sign year-round.

Subject: [CentralTexasGeocachers] Can we decide who comes to events?
Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2011 09:43:46 -0700 (PDT)Howdy!I don't really want to add my 2 cents on this subject but I thought this thread would be a good place to post some news...I have started the process of adopting a highway in the name "Central Texas Geocachers". I remember someone saying that there were too few CITOs and thought this would be a good solution. If all goes well, it would be a two year commitment and we would need to do them three to six times a year depending on the area.I did hit a small roadblock as there are not many highways to be adopted in the Austin area (they tend to be too busy for safe adoption). It looks like it will be closer to the Pflugerville. TxDot would provide all the vests, signage, and trash bags and we provide the manpower.I will let everyone express there thoughts about what highway we adopt if we are given a choice,. But first, I would love to hear what you think.Of course, my plans are to plan the clean-ups early enough to make all of them events and make sure that there are caches in the area for everyone to find.I look forward to your comments!Esther/BGTxp.s. if you are interested in more details on the Adopt A Highway Program, please go to...www.dot.state.tx.us/trv/aah.
