I’ve always considered myself pretty decent with GSAK, but I’m resolving to learn GSAK more fully. I’m doing this in the same manner in which I tell others I learned how to use the computer—just go through the menu and try each option to see what it does. When you come across a keyboard shortcut for an option you use often, practice it!
So far, in just 5 minutes time, I’ve learned several invaluable tricks:
1. Highlight a cache and press F4 to open online waypoint info on GC.com (F5 for offline version). (I used to always right-click for this, but F4 is so much faster.)
2. You can right click the search bar, choose “Customize Search Bar”, then check the “Mfilter” box to add the SQLlite query box. You can then type something like “difficulty = 4 or difficulty = 3.5” on the fly to see filter combos you can’t easily do with the typical filter search that doesn’t allow for “or/and” filtering. This is the same thing you can do from the “Where” tab in a GSAK filter, just directly from your search bar.
3. I also discovered the “View à Dual Screen” option that allows you to have whatever other view you want on a second monitor! I always disliked the Split Screen view, but this is awesome (if you have two monitors)!
More tricks to come later as I come across them.
