Cedar Hill SP is not far from Irving (maybe 20 minutes up loop 12) and is a very safe park.  They have patrol running all night at most of the state parks so you should be fine.

In the event that there is anyone on the list in or near Dallas (or you know someone who is) I am looking for a place for my daughter (Lil Princess) and myself to sleep Friday night – maybe Saturday – in Dallas.  I hate to do this but the place we were going to stay has suddenly become unavailable.  We won’t be bothering anyone for geocaching tours (WHAT???!!!? ??) as it’s not that kind of trip unfortunately.  I’ll be lucky to get any caching done between the birthday party and I’d really like to take Lil Princess to the Dallas Zoo.
In the alternative, does anyone know how far Cedar Hill State Park is from Irving (drive time)?  Is it safe enough for me and a 7 year old to stay by ourselves at least one night (for those of you that went last year)?
Please, please, please get back to me with any ideas.
      Thanks
