TXGA also has a list of rules and regs. Austin City Parks are OK, but not City Preserves (we're working on that, though!); BCP Preserves are strictly off-limits with few exceptions; State Parks don't have a set policy but most of the land managers are OK with it as long as they know about it; Travis Parks are OK (except for Hamilton Pool, which is a preserve),  as long as you get the location approved first. LCRA doesn't have a written policy but has allowed a cache at McKinney Roughs with a Land Use Permit being OK'd and renewed once a year, so I guess you should ask the individual land managers.

I've been thinking its maybe about time that I place a cache or two.
I've been reading the stuff on gc.com, navicache, AustinExplorer, and
looking on the group here.  I'm curious if permission or some kind of
notice is required (or suggested) for cache placement in Austin or
Travis County Parks, state parks, and parks in the surrounding
counties and towns, and if so if anyone was any info on what person
or office to contact.  I know the preserves are generally out of
bounds, but are there any other public areas that are good ideas to
      stay out of?

      Thanks!
