- Program Date: January 27,2008
Program Time: 11:00-12:00
SPEAKER and TOPIC:
Swami Ma Bhaskarananda (Ma Bha)
The Ashtavakra Gita or the Song of Ashtavakra, also known as
Ashtavakra Samhita is an Advaita Vedanta scripture which documents a
dialogue between the Perfect Master Ashtavakra and Janaka, the King
of Mithila. Ashtavakra Gita states that there is no such thing as
existence or non existence, right or wrong, or moral or immoral. In
the eyes of the Ashtavakra, one's true identity can be found by
simply recognizing oneself as Pure Existence and that as individuals
we are the Awareness of all things.
Ma Bhaskarananda (Ma Bha) received more than fifteen years of
intensive training in meditation, Sanskrit language and Yoga-Vedanta
philosophy directly from Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati. She presently
teaches at Ananda Ashram (Monroe, NY) and at other centers in the
U.S., Europe and India.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
The Center for Non-Dualism is a community for people who share the
Non-Dual perspective of Religion, Yoga, and Philosophy. The purpose
of the Center is to maintain a loving fellowship and to provide a
nurturing environment that is conducive to learning and experiencing
the oneness of Non-Dualism.
Non-Dualism is the orientation that there is one absolute reality
without a second, and that each of us, although an individual person,
is one with that reality, just as a wave is not separate from the
ocean. The emphasis of our Center is on the practices such as
contemplation and meditation which lead to the direct experience of
this Non-Dual reality.
