- Jan 7, 2014Hi Jeannine :-),My kitties get back rubs and massages by me, and they love 'em. Just be gentle, don't "dig in", and do it when s/he's laying down so you don't stress anything sore.I go from head to tail down the spine, both thumbs starting right up close beside the backbone, moving in tiny circles, then fanning out toward the sides away from the spine, then moving down to the next vertebra, etc. til I get to the base of the tail.
