      This past Monday Canadian Sam Whittingham screamed passed
      the long standing goal of 75 mph for a vehicle powered by
      a person's muscles. A second run during legal wind
      conditions within 5% of that velocity is still needed
      before 76.6 mph can be ratified as an official world record.

      The WHPSC event will continue through October 6th, 2001.
      It's been rather exciting to follow as a virtual spectator
      witnessing what brain power and muscle power alone can
      achieve. There still a chance one of the competitors
      will pull off something rather incredulous in the
      next 3 days. Evolution!
