519Capitol Peak and other access control
- Apr 25, 2014
As many of you are aware the majority of Capitol Peak is owned by a timber company who in turns leases their land to companies / agencies involved in communications. The gated road leading to the peak begins on DNR managed land but then traverses primarily on to private land.
The State does own a portion of the peak and has communication facilities. There is a motorized trail (now called Capitol Peak) which access a small portion of DNR managed land on the South Eastern side of the peak.
Recently DNR has blocked illegal access coming off the C 7000 and C 4000 road to Capitol Peak. DNR also blocked illegal vehicle access to the Crestline trail – off the C 4000. This access was causing damage to sections of the trail
Please respect the private property and facilities located at the peak. Companies which lease facilities, including DNR want to protect their investments.
