      Hi

I have a 1980 MX6 125,,,and was looking for a MX 250.  I understand the difference from 80 to 81 was aluminum swingarm and maybe Ohlins shocks,,,but what was differences from 79 MX5 250 model (other than obvious side panels) to the MX6 ??

      Anyone have a MX250 79-81 for sale?

      Thanks for replies.

I have a '79 MX-5 250 Factory race bike that I would sell for $2000. I was on the line with it at Swan MX Park in Tyler, Texas in 2002, and beat everybody to the first turn... including open class pro's who were on the same starting line. I hit the brakes too soon, got overtaken by a couple of pros on a Maico 490 and a Husky 400, and got taken out. That was the end of my MX racing (for 14 years), as I had to have major reconstructive knee surgery. I rode it last November at a MO VMX and I counted off 3 seconds after everyone else left the line, before I started, so I wouldn't have anyone take me out in the first corner again... I caught the crowd before they  entered the first turn, and there were open-class bikes there, too (Yamaha YZ 360's). I finally completed my first MX without injury, though! That day in Tyler, there were a lot of famously fast bikes, including Can-Am MX-6 400's & 250's. Nobody could touch this MX-5 250 I got from Al Roberts! If you follow this link to Classic Can-Am, you'll see the Specifications for the C-A MX bikes from '74 to '81. Take care and Good Luck!  Kevin Miller

                Thanks for replies.

http://www.classiccanam.com/canam6.htm  Follow this link to see Specs on 1974-1981 Can-Am MX bikes. I also have a good MX-5 250 motor I'd sell for $400. It was taken off a running MX-5 250 that was parted out on eBay several years ago. It doesn't have a carburetor or ignition on it... I borrowed the ignition to put on my bike.  Kevin
