As many of you know, I've been wanting to create a new repository
practice materials for dance and vocal music and the like.

Pursuant to this, I wished to be sure of my legal standing before
putting anything out there that is protected and since I am most
enamored of Master Avatar's work (Al Cofrin), I contacted him first. My
request was to be allowed to make MIDI files (not notation) available,
and he was kind enough to take my request to his publisher and see if it
      was permissible.

Regretfully, and to my surprise, it was not! This has taught me never
to assume. I had assumed it would be a matter of going through the
motions out of courtesy and that this 'derivative' work would not be in
violation of copyright. I was wrong. This means that any performance
of this work cannot legally be recorded and distributed, even on an
      informal basis w/o permission. :(

So.. I'm just offering it as a heads-up... advice... perhaps redundant
for many of you, but perhaps there are some out there like me who might
have made the same assumption, and if so, I hope this missive is of use
      to you.
